translated by Giulia and Stefanie, scans by Annalisa B.

Interview with Orlando Bloom, the protagonist costar of Johnny Depp in the film [Pirates of the Caribbean] and new sex symbol. "I'm not romantic," he says," but I would give my life for a woman. I like to like people, but that doesn't influence my feelings."

He has become popular in just two years with "The Lord of the Rings" and now with the success of Pirates of the Caribbean, where he plays a romantic pirate with Johnny Depp. Orlando is one of the more interesting actors in Hollywood.

In the interview, the English actor, who is dating Kate Bosworth, actress and fellow surf fanatic, Orlando talks about the movie, his relationships, his sex symbol status, and of his recent work on "Troy" with Brad Pitt.

Q: How did you prepare to act in POTC as Will Turner, the romantic character who saves his love with Johnny Depp?

A: I learned to fight with a sword and that scared me; I knew that a particular ability was needed for this role. Then I thought about Will and his loyalty; he's an ordinary guy on this difficult mission with Jack Sparrow to save the girl he loves. In the movie, the character grows up and evolves; he takes himself as he is and learns how to get the girl.

Q: Are you romantic in real life?

A: No. (laughs) but I like to think that I'm romantic. I try to be sometimes.

Q: Your character is a romantic hero. Have you ever been so in love with a girl that you would die for her?

A: I always feel that way when I'm in love with someone.

Q: Does Keira Knightley have some of the characteristics of your ideal woman?

A: Keira is beautiful, talented, and clever. In my opinion, Keira is the ideal woman for many people.

Q: What do you appreciate in a woman?

A: A sense of humor and kindness.

Q: Sure....Is it true that you became an actor in order to kiss beautiful women? Who would you like to kiss?

A: No, that's false. I love beautiful women, but I'd never accept a job just to kiss them.

Q: Are you single?

A: I'm trying to keep my private life separate from everything else.

Q: Do you have a tattoo with your girlfriend's name?

A: No, I'm not that kind of guy. I have an elf tattoo, but it's really a game.

Q: Are you brave?

A: No, but I'd like to be brave. Sometimes I try to be, but I get scared.

Q: What fears you the most?

A: Sharks. I'm a surfer and I'm always nervous when I'm surfing. I feel like a decoy, bobbing up and down in the water.

Q: What's the best thing you learned from Johnny Depp while doing this movie?

A: Braveness. He's a very brave actor. He transforms himself for every role and isn't afraid to make difficult choices.

Q: How do you face being a celebrity?

A: It's been gradual. It wasn't so sudden that I couldn't walk down the street the next day. I do what I want. Celebrity status isn't so important.

Q: Have you ever thought about how much your life has changed in such a short amount of time?

A: Sure. I couldn't foresee this change. But I take things as they happen.

Q: How do you feel about being a sex symbol?

A: I'm honored. I like it. But I don't feel any different from how I felt a few years ago I have more experience. I try to keep my feet on the ground, and help comes from work, my family and my friends.

Q: Do you get messages from your fans?

A: Yes, whole bags that I'm reading through. It scares me. It's hard to answer everyone.

Q: Who are some big actors that you're a fan of?

A: When I was a kid, I saw "The Hustler" My cousin brought it from America for me. It was amazing. I really like the role of Paul Newman.

Q: Are you a hero in real life?

A: For my mother! I don't know, actually. I'm a gentleman; I was taught good manners and I try to be polite.

Q: What advice did Johnny Depp give you on your job?

A: He told me: "Keep your feet on the ground. Remember why you went into this profession." I knew this, but I felt better after he repeated it to me.

Q: What about your future?

A: After "Troy" stops filming, I'll go back to England to relax. I'm waiting for the right role.

Q: How do you relax?

A: With my family and friends. I often go to visit my grandparents. When you have an exciting job you tend to do normal things in your spare time.

Q: Can you tell us something about the movie "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King"?

A: For me, this will be [Peter Jackson's] fortune or ruin. There's an exciting ending. It's as good as the other two movies. I hope Peter Jackson will get the appreciation he deserves.

Q: What are your next goals?

A: To work on great movies with great directors. I hope to film a movie based on the life of Dan Eldon, a young photographer form Reuters. He was killed in Somalia when he was 22 years old when he tried to talk about the war. It's a story that needs to be told.

Q: What's really important in your life?

A: My friends, my family, and the people closest to me. I try to grow as a person and not waste my time on stupid things.
